92 The Practice of Subduing the Heart
<Previous | Next>

1. What does it mean to subdue the heart? It means to give up one’s extravagant fleshly desires, refrain from hankering after the enjoyment of position, refrain from seeking after ease and comfort, do everything for satisfying God, and have a heart completely for God.

2. To subdue the heart, one has to have genuine fellowship with God in spirit by drawing near to him, understand his intention and know his deeds by eating and drinking his word, and then try to satisfy him.

3. For one to eat and drink God’s word is to understand God’s intention, so that he can act more properly and more after God’s heart. If one subdues his heart with no guidance of God’s word, his practice will be of his good behavior.

4. If you love God according to your own will, you are not practicing the truth but fallacy. If you do things with no guidance of God’s word or not according to God’s word, you will be doing them according to your own will, and it won’t be commended by God. You will be doing them according to your own will, and it won’t be commended by God.
