56. Wei XX, female, aged 52, from Deting Township in Songxian County, formerly a believer of the Holiness Church. The following is an account in Wei’s own words:

My husband Zhang X, 55 years old, was a mid-level leader of the Holiness Church. In May 1998, God’s end-time work was preached to us several times, but every time we refused to accept it. We also spoke many words resisting Almighty God in our church, so that a dozen believers were hindered from turning to Almighty God. Soon after, my husband fell ill. In October 1999, I accepted Almighty God, but later I denied him because of my husband’s dissuasion. In October 2000, three sisters in our church accepted Almighty God, but later they also denied him as a result of being disturbed by my husband and me. From then on, my husband grew steadily worse. He took medicine but did not get any better. Upon examination at the hospital, he was found to have colitis. In December 2001, a brother came to preach the gospel to my husband, but he drove the brother out of our house with a stick though he was very ill. On February 16, 2002 (the fifth day of the Chinese New Year), my husband was terminally ill, and he was unable to speak. That brother came and preached the gospel to him again, but he shook his head constantly, still refusing the gospel. After the brother left, he died. On February 22, a sister came and preached the gospel to me. Only at that time did I wake up and realize that my husband was punished by God. Now I hate myself for having resisted the true God. I hope brothers and sisters will not be as foolish as I was, or it will be too late to regret.

57. He XX, female, aged 40, from Zhengyang County, formerly a worker of the Praise Church. In April 2000, when someone preached God’s end-time work to He XX, she not only refused to accept it herself, but hindered her mother and younger brother from accepting it, and she also started rumors to slander the Church of Almighty God. As a result, her mother did not dare to attend the meetings of the Church of Almighty God. Soon after, He XX fell from a vehicle, which caused her spleen to be ruptured and her liver lacerated. When two sisters went to visit her in the hospital, they saw that she was in a miserable condition: There was a long (about 17-cm) incision in her abdomen, an oxygen tube in her nose, dark blood oozing from her mouth, and a urinary catheter in place; she had only a faint breath of life left. After she recovered and was discharged from the hospital, she realized that the accident was a curse of God, and she bitterly regretted her resistance against God. In July 2000, she accepted Almighty God.

58. Wang XX, male, aged 69, from Luanchuan County, a mid-level leader of the Justification by Faith Church. In March 1996, when someone went to preach God’s end-time work to Wang, he not only refused to hear it but also condemned it. His wife wanted to examine whether it was true, but he tried hard to prevent her from doing so, not allowing her to accept it. He also closed the churches he led to outsiders and spread rumors in them, so that many people could not turn to Almighty God. In August 1996, Wang got lung cancer, and on December 2 of the same year, he died. His wife realized that his death was a punishment from God, so she accepted Almighty God resolutely. This fulfilled the word in the Bible: “There will be two in one bed; one will be taken and the other will be left.”

59. Du XX, female, aged 56, from Guolian Township in Yuzhou City, a junior leader of the Pentecostal Church. In 1995, when some brothers and sisters preached the gospel of God’s end-time work to Du, she not only refused to accept it, but said, “You are evil spirits and heretics.” Besides, she hindered the people led by her from accepting the gospel. At the end of 1995, Du had intestinal cancer, and she passed blood in her stools. During her illness, she was possessed by evil spirits and suffered extremely. She died on August 25, 1996.

60. Fu XX, male, aged 58, from Xinye County, a worker of the Local Church. In 1998, the brothers and sisters testified the work of Almighty God to Fu many times, but he always refused to accept it. In April 1999, the work of Almighty God was preached to him once again. After hearing the testimony about it, he deeply regretted rejecting it, and he acknowledged that it was God’s work. But a week later, deceived by his leader, he returned the book of Almighty God’s word to his elder brother (It was his elder brother who invited a gospel preacher to preach the work of Almighty God to him), and said, “This is not the true way, but a false way.” After one month, when eating, he felt food was stuck in his esophagus. Upon examination, he was found to have esophageal cancer. From then on, his condition worsened progressively. By November 1999, he was almost unable to swallow anything. One day during his illness, when he went to his elder brother to borrow money for his treatment, he said to his sister-in-law with tears in his eyes, “I offended God’s nature. I read God’s word, but I refused to accept it. I blasphemed and slandered God, and I am cursed by God.” In February 2000, he died.
